Niloofar Sarlati is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature and English at the University of Michigan. Her current book project studies semicolonial encounters between Britain and Iran during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, focusing on economic negotiations and translation bargains between English and Persian. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Symplokē, Philological Encounters, Comparative Literature, Victorian Literature and Culture as well as the forthcoming Routledge Companion to Postcolonial and Decolonial Literature.
