Najnin Islam is Assistant Professor of English at Colorado College. Her research focuses on the literary-historical archive of Indian indentureship in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean worlds. Engaging the historical archive and cultural productions on indentureship, her work offers a connected history of race and caste and illuminates its significance for colonial capitalism after emancipation. Najnin is currently working on her first book manuscript titled Recasting the Coolie: Racial Capitalism, Caste, and Indentureship in the Caribbean.
